Rifle Classes


Classes can be shot with pistol caliber carbines, 22lr conversion kits, and 22lr rifles/carbines.



General Purpose Rifle

Class Duration: 2 Days Round Count: 600 rifle Cost: $250

NRADefensive Concepts North Carolina's General Purpose Rifle (GPR) course is designed to teach students how to effectively use general purpose, utility type rifles to resolve defensive encounters. Rifles of this type are often limited in magazine capacity, but are still capable of quickly bringing an end to hostile actions.

Material to be covered includes: marksmanship fundamentals, shooting positions, shooting on the move, use of cover, and weapon transitions. Rifles suited for this course are lever action rifles, lightweight bolt action rifles (typically in a scout format), and single shot rifles.

Semi auto rifles such as the AR15, AK47, and M1A are better suited for our Defensive Carbine course. Shotguns are permitted for this course; however only slugs may be used.

NRA Basic Rifle

Class Duration: 1 Day Round Count: 100 rifle Cost: $75

NRAThe NRA Basic Rifle course is designed to give first time shooters a wealth of knowledge in the safe and proper use of single shot, bolt action, and semi-automatic rifles. Topics included in this one day course include: fundamental safety rules, shooting stances, firing grips, firearm upkeep, ammunition selection, and other essential skills. Students completing this course will receive a certificate from the NRA in addition to printed materials useful for future reference.

NRA Law Enforcement Patrol Rifle

CUSTOM: Class duration, round count, and cost dependent on agency needs.

NRAThe NRA Law Enforcement Patrol Rifle course is designed to teach law enforcement officers how to use their patrol rifles in a safe and effective manner and to sharpen the officer's existing skill base with one of the capable tools in law enforcement.

Shoot/No-shoot decision making
Shooting on the move
Malfunction clearance
Use of cover and concealment

This course is highly customizable and is taught to suit the needs of the class host. The course can range from a one day "skill refresher" course to a comprehensive week long "carbine operator" course.

Basic CarbineVickers Shooting Method

Class Duration: 1 Days Round Count: 500 rifle Cost: $150

CCHThe Basic Carbine course is designed to provide each student with the core skills needed to properly use the carbine in a safe and effective manner in defensive situations. The course is taught using the Vickers Shooting Method and covers the following topics: marksmanship fundamentals, carbine manipulations, and extensive shooting drills at various distances using several shooting positions.

Defensive Carbine

Class Duration: 2 Days Round Count: 1000 rifle, 400 pistol Cost: $250

CCHWhen the going gets tough, the carbine is the platform of choice for defensive situations. When used properly, it is the ultimate tool for the protection of family and self. The Defensive Carbine course is designed to provide each student with the skills needed to properly use and maintain the carbine in a safe and effective manner in defensive situations. The course curriculum covers the following topics: marksmanship fundamentals (sight alignment, sight picture, trigger manipulation, zeroing of sights), carbine manipulation (loading, unloading, malfunction clearance), shooting on the move, use of cover and concealment, and extensive shooting drills at various distances using several shooting positions.

Defensive Carbine II

Class Duration: 2 Days Round Count: 1000 rifle, 400 pistol Cost: $250

CCHDefensive Carbine II seemlessly picks up where Defensive Carbine I ends. Students will receive training that further refines their marksmanship fundamentals and introduces new skills. Material to be covered includes: shooting and malfunction clearance on the move, multiple target engagement, shoot/no-shoot decision making, weapon transitions, and the proper use of cover.

Defensive Carbine - SOTM (Shooting on the Move)

Class Duration: 1 Days Round Count: 500 rifle, 200 pistol Cost: $150

CCHThe Shooting on the Move course focuses on increasing the student's ability to effectively use a carbine and handgun during defensive situations while moving. Material to be covered includes: foreward/rearward/lateral movement, clearing malfunctions on the move, use of cover, weapon transitions, and multiple target engagement.

Lowlight Carbine

CCHThe Lowlight Carbine course is designed to provide each student with the core skills needed to properly use the carbine in a safe and effective manner while operating in lowlight defensive situations with a carbine. The course curriculum covers the following topics: principles of lowlight operations, handheld lighting techniques, weapon-mounted lighting techniques,marksmanship fundamentals, shoot/no shoot decision making, team tactics, and extensive shooting drills at various distances in a lowlight environment.
